On Friday, following the launch of the new models in India, Apple recorded up to 25% higher sales of the iPhone 16 compared to the iPhone 15 last year, with quick-commerce platforms joining in the excitement.
Customers flocked to the flagship Apple stores in Delhi and Mumbai, where retailers noted unexpectedly high demand for the more expensive Pro models. Store officials reported queues of around 400-500 people outside the Mumbai store despite heavy rain, while Delhi saw 200-300 customers lined up by 8 AM. The lines persisted throughout the day. In a notable shift, quick-commerce platforms like Blinkit and BB Now partnered with Apple retailers like Unicorn to deliver the iPhone 16 directly to customers’ doors within minutes of ordering, transforming the delivery approach for high-end tech products.
