Elon Musk's X is set to let users view posts from accounts they have blocked.
X (formerly Twitter) is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to view posts from accounts they've blocked. Currently, users cannot see the posts, replies, media, or followers of those they've blocked, but this may change soon, according to Elon Musk, the platform's owner. Additionally, a recent report indicated that X might introduce payment services in line with Musk's vision of creating an “everything” app.
Elon Musk has confirmed that X will be modifying its blocking feature. In a post, app researcher @nima_owji mentioned that the platform will eliminate the existing blocking functionality. If a user’s account is public, their posts will be accessible even to those who have blocked them. Musk responded to this by stating, “High time this happened.”

He clarified that while X's updated blocking feature will prevent blocked users from interacting with the account that blocked them, it won’t stop them from viewing posts shared by public accounts.
In recent years, Musk has expressed criticism of the blocking feature on social media platforms. Last year, he stated that it “made no sense” and should be replaced with a “stronger form of mute.” In August 2023, the billionaire even threatened to eliminate this feature from X altogether, except for direct messages (DMs).
The rollout of this new functionality is anticipated soon. However, staff members at Gadgets 360 were unable to view posts while testing the current blocking feature, indicating that it may not have been implemented yet.
X Enhancing Community Notes Feature
Alongside the removal of the legacy blocking feature, X is reportedly working on a functionality that allows users to add a community note to a link. This note is expected to be displayed on every post containing that link. Users can choose the option “should appear on all posts that include this link” to ensure it is visible with each post. Musk confirmed the development of this feature by commenting, “Community Notes.”
